Comments: Be barefoot whenever you want. Don't fear the comments of people wearing shoes. All of them were born barefoot, and a lot of them wish to be also barefoot, but they aren't brave enough. It's great to feel the differnt surfaches in the city under your bare soles. After a few weeks it will be as normal for you to leave home without shoes as wearing shoes is normal for most of the people. Never stop walking barefoot.

Comments: Hey barefooters! Just went to the mall and JCPenny totally barefoot with many people around and as usual got no resistance from any store owners! Also went to the Doctors office barefoot for regular check up and not a word or comment from anyone, and I know they all noticed-That was surprising..the Doc office? Hey my confidence keeps growing. I also got to Chilis restaurant almost every week totally barefoot. I do wear long jeans though, that's my look. Im convinced you can go almost anywhere barefoot if your confidence is high and you are nice to people. Too bad its starting to get cold here in Ny (below 40) and that will put a damper on barefooting for a couple of months. But I will still go out on nice days barefoot just to freak people out and get looks! Spread the word!

Being born and bred in Nth Queensland has enabled me to live my whole life being barefoot. For 43 years I've never had the need for any footwear!

Went to Primary School in barefoot, High School barefoot and University barefoot. No looks of disgust or signs prohibiting barefeet. It's part of life here. Probably about 70% of our towns population are barefoot constantly with the other 30% only during the wet season.

Visitors to the town were here early this year and I heard them comment on the amount of barefooters. They were shocked when I told them that I've never had to wear shoes - not even to work! So long as you are aware of your surroundings and what you're doing, foot injuries become non-existant!

Anyway, to those who want to see another barefoot paradise, come to Nth Queensland - especially the smaller country towns!

Comments: I go barefoot wherever possible, though I don't like to draw undue attention to myself with it, so I am ALWAYS barefoot at home, in the yard, while driving, at most friends' houses, at gas stations (except somtimes in mid-winter cold, and then usualy just to avoid attention). When I must have footwear, it is flip-flops (thongs) unless extreme bitter cold or requrements make this impossible. When wearing shoes I slip them off as much as possible. I don't wear socks -- still have a few pairs from years ago and need them for the occasional wedding or funeral but that's about it. Socks are a big turn-off for me, since the wearer can't even quickly or easily be barefoot; he is one more step removed from feeling the wolrd around him and naked person under that clothing seems to have no way out. As you may have figured, I also go shirtless as often as possible and nude wherever I can -- a clothing minimalist! I don't seem to be the only one here.

Yes, I'll admit it. I also like to see others barefoot, or in flip-flops when necessary. It is pleasing, for the cause of barefooting, aesthetically, and is a turn-on (the last part only true for some guys, but the first two for everyone).

Above all, I like to feel the world around me. It provides a more sensual interaction with the world. When I had a foot injury and was in a cast and special shoe on the other foot (not a barefooting-realted injury!), it felt like I was missing one of my senses. I traveled during that time and it seems strange to have stayed somewhere and not to know how the carpet, tiles, or even sidewalks and parking lot outside FELT. It is almost the same as if I had only been in the place blindfolded, or with ear plugs; I'll never truly know the full experience of being there until I go back touch it with my feet.

Comments: I started college last year at the age of 50. this year I dug out the gym shoes I used in Junior High school because the college wouldn't let me lift weights barefooted. The shoes are still in like new condition; why buy a new pair when the pair I bought in 1975 are still in great shape. I dont wear shoes offten enough to break them in much less wear them out. I had never heard of barefoot sandels until I read your sight. Thank you so much for enlightening me about them. I'll be wearing "shoes" all the time now when I wear my new barefoot sandles.

I was just on your site www.going-barefoot.info and read the reply you left underneath my comments that were posted on April 1.

Yes, you are a "bare-calver". Anything worn at the waist that's pre-stitched above the knee or at the knee makes any barefooter a "bare-calver" as well.

Since you've had more than one entry from people in the past, I'd like to say something that I should have said the first time.

I've always believed that if you're going to show your toes, you have to show the whole foot. Why not go all out and show the whole lower leg?

For those of you barefooters who don't roll your long pants up to your knees like I do, give it a try. You may like it. There are two tricks, though. One, your pants have to be a pair you don't mind getting wrinkly or dirty. And two, they have to be a pair you can easily roll up. You don't want to cut off your circulation.

I dont see any barefooters in LI unfortunatly or rarely. I go into all stores, malls, banks, baseball games, I even go to the local bar once/twice week barefoot!Hate when my feet arent black from all day barefooting. Only wear shoes on appts for work or in a real nice restaurant.(Fast food places..no shoes for sure and rarely have trouble). I recently discovered Vibrams 5 Fingers.http://www.fivefingers.com.au They give the same effect as barfoot but have a shell underfoot. I am studying massage thereapy as to be barefoot or to wear the Vibrams we strengthen and use all leg muscles hence preserving our posture etc.

Comments: Hey, Jonathan. I have a confession to make. I've spent three years frequenting your site and reading the messages that fellow barefooters send you. I've only now worked up the nerve to write you myself. Please forgive me.
As I stated, I like to be bare-calved while barefoot. If I'm not wearing anything pre-stitched above the knee or at the knee, I'll roll my long pants up to my knees. My inspiration was "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" by Mark Twain. Tom, Huck and the other underage characters were always barefoot - and bare-calved.
In three years, I've e-mailed countless barefooters from around the world asking them if they like to look a certain way while barefoot. I've gotten more than 60 replies, twelve of which came from people who wrote to you. Some had preferences and some didn't.
Hey, Jonathan, are you a bare-calver like me? Do you roll your long pants up to your knees? Let me know.

Comments: Great site. I go barefoot 24/7 and 52 weeks a year. I even go barefoot in winter and love walking in the snow in my bare feet. I always drive barefoot, since I feel that I have better control of the car that way. I have traveled from coast to coast and always travel barefoot.
I shop barefoot and go barefoot to restaurants that don't hassle me.
I also fly barefoot, and I get some really amazed looks from people at airports when I climb out of the pilot's seat of the airplane and they realize that I fly in my bare feet.
If it was legal, I would go completely bare in public, since I see no shame in baring the human body.
I love going to nudist resorts where people have no hangups about bare feet or being bare all over.

Comments: I'm a 28-year-old high school English teacher and all my students know me as "Ms. Feet" because I'm always barefoot in the classroom and most of the time around the campus. I haven't warn shoes to a video store in years and I also frequent the grocery store, the Subway sandwiches, Baskin-Robbins, the mall, the miniature golfing place, and Cal State Long Beach (where I'm attending night classes as well) in my most barest of feet. I've also gotten away with walking around Disneyland barefoot, but 9 times out of 10, they'll ask me to put my flip-flops on before I get on the rides. But I love being barefoot and hope you do,too! Yay for summer!

Comments: My wife and I have been barefooters all our lives. We meet while i was walking barefoot around the west end and of course she was barefoot. Being barefoot gives us so much happiness and freedom. The feeling of our barefeet on the roads and other places cannot describe how much pleasure we get. After our outings, we would wash each others feet and give each other a great foot massage to finish of a great day. If there we're more barefooters here in London.

Comments: I was a barefoot country boy growing up in the south. I have been doing it since I was a kid. I grew up with a couple of guys who were always barefoot. They were brothers. Life was good back then. Life is great now, can be barefoot whenever. It is good that todays males young and mature (not Old) are always barefoot'n.

Comments: I have started to go barefoot since last 2 months because it feels comfortable for my feet. I just made a choice for my lifestyle. Besides, the carpet in my apartment is so filthy. I am forced to go barefoot indoors. When the weather is warm or hot, I will go barefoot.

Comments: I love to be barefoot and would be 24/7, but I work in the construction business (bridge/highway), and have to wear boots for work. After my shift my boots and socks (when I wear socks) are the first things I take off. I'm barefoot from that point until I have to return to work. I love getting my soles very dirty and they are tough. For those establishments that require shoes, I have a pair of sole less moccasins. They cover the tops of my feet so it isn't obvious to people that I'm really barefoot. They're better than flip flops for these situations.

Comments: Australia is very barefoot tollerant, mind you summer is when you see most people barefeet, me you will see me barefoot 24 hours/7 days/52 weeks, OK you have it, always barefoot. Mind you this only happened in the last 14 months, before that whenever i not at work I be always barefoot. People round here are accustomed to seeing me barefoot, so if i was to wear any sort of footwear, I would be possibly considered sick. LOL.
Life is great, I love life and love as Jonathan says on this site, be fee spirited, I think he needs to be here in Australia, the weather is better here. :) I like to commend you on a site well done take care, and enjoy the feel of earth under your feet, less chance of a barefoot person to walk onto dog shit, is there? If you do not know you will soon know you know where you feet go.

Comments: I'm a barefooter from germany and try to live without shoes at least half of the year. Usually I start at april and walk on naked soles till end of september. At work I have to wear shoes, but flip flops are ok. The rest of the time I'm barefoot without any break in this six months. I prefer to go barefoot in the city and love to harden my soles by walking on rough surfaces like asphalt or gravel. The dirtier a street, the better for walking barefoot. So usually my soles are grey and sometimes black. I enjoy very much to be barefoot in public, particularly when all the other people are wearing shoes. It's great to show them my naked, dirty feet.

Comments: I like dirt trails the best. Enjoy wide variety of different surfaces available on the trails in Wisconsin, clay, pine needles, sand, rock. Not too interested in "urban barefooting" but I used to do it a lot while in college. Went to classes, band rehearsals, dances, everything barefoot. Also like to bike barefoot.

Comments: I hope someday people in HK will accept the culture in barefooting. It seems that HK people are too reserved in this area. Virtually no barefooter can be seen in HK except street beggars. If more people join in barefooting, surely barefooting will be more accepted in HK!
